01 / WHY IT EXISTS
Good groups do not last on enthusiasm alone.
The business groups, book clubs, and peer circles I have been part of created real friendship, ideas, accountability, and a few genuinely great trips. Every time the recurring structure fell away, the group usually did too.
Structure helps it last
The strongest groups had a rhythm, clear expectations, and something members were responsible for making together. DogShit Investing starts with those lessons built in.
Investing keeps it fresh
Each month brings new ideas, real disagreement, a decision, and a record. The money stays deliberately small so the conversation and the company can remain the point.

A group worth coming back to.
I'm David. Adult life has a way of leaving you without the people who really know you. Plenty of contacts, a group chat or two, but not the handful who know your life and your work and let you know theirs. That gap gets loud when you're building something. The good groups closed it for me, slowly, the way trust actually forms, until we were genuinely useful to each other. I can't promise a group will do that for you. I can tell you it did it for me, and that is the reason any of this exists.
What makes a group last is not complicated, though it is easy to get wrong: real structure, and people who actually show up. That is not a hunch. My career has spanned more than thirty roles, construction to business, musician to filmmaker, plus decades spent helping businesses hold themselves together, and the pattern held every time, in places that shared nothing else.
None of that makes me an investment expert, and I have no interest in pretending it does. What I am good at is simpler: getting the right people around a table and giving them a reason to keep coming back. DogShit Investing is that, built on purpose and handed to the people who show up.
No claim of investment expertise. No promise of performance. Just a well-designed reason for capable people to think and spend time together.
